Mami Sakura one day realizes she has special abilities and is a bit baffled by it. Her friend, and of course love interest, is interested in parapsychology and figures out the truth of the situation, that Mami has ESP abilities. Takahata (her friend) originally thought it might be himself with the powers, but nope, was Mami. She gets a heart compact and one of her abilities is teleportation.

2003 saw new life for the series when it was made into a 12 episode live action show. In it her father is still a painter (and like the anime, Mami is still a subject of his artwork) and her mother is reporter on a parapsychology program. In the original her ESP powers were her own, but in this version a UFO gives them to her (a bit like Yuu in Creamy Mami getting her powers from a UFO). Mami's pet is a tanuki, Konpoko.
